I remember when I would dread Sunday mornings. The thought of getting everyone up for church at the crack of dawn so you could rush through breakfast (if you even had time); get dressed-up in uncomfortable dress clothes; fight for bathroom time; make sure everyone has their bible/notebooks/offering-money, etc. and hope you get in the car and on the road before the Sunday morning rush hour hits (did you know there is rush hour traffic on Sunday mornings? Yup, everyone else trying to get to church at the same time as you.). I don’t miss those days – I feel as though I did my family grave disservice by rushing them through those years of Sunday mornings that would have been better kept as days of rest and calm reflection.
Now Sunday mornings are my favorite! While everyone sleeps in, I fry bacon and bake cinnamon rolls, filling the house with wonderful aromas to wake up to; if it’s cold enough, I turn on the fireplace; candles in the kitchen are lit and beautiful music from the classical station plays low and soft on my under-cabinet radio. I’m making up for so many Sundays – better late than never. 🙂
How’s your Sunday morning? Do you cultivate a morning of positive emotions and energy that spills into your every task? If not, why not?
Here’s hoping your Sunday if full of happiness, relaxing fellowship with family and friends and a cozy corner with a wonderful book and gourmet coffee!
