I’m in the market for a new reading chair! I love the big, oversized stuffed chairs or chair-and-a-half with comfortable upholstery big enough to curl up in. Right now I’m using my husband’s big leather chair-and-a-half and although it is comfortable, I prefer a soft chenille or tweed fabric.
So what can make or break a great reading chair? It’s obviously a very personal choice but for me, I want three things:
- Again, soft fabric upholstery in a nubby tweed (preferably not itchy) or beautiful chenille.
- Big rounded everything! I like my chair to have rounded arms and back for extra comfort and a stable place to sit my Kindle/book or a folded throw blanket.
- And, a large seat cushion for sitting crossed-legged or sharing space with the occasional pet. Also, the extra space on the seat cushion gives you a wonderful place to display pillows when not in use.
Luckily, this time of year is great for hitting terrific sale prices. Also, don’t rule out the reading chair as an awesome holiday gift for the avid reader on your list (also for the avid knitter, crocheter, gamer, etc.). Enjoy!
